Jungle Safari

The Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary, covering approximately 830 square kilometers, is the largest in Karnataka. Originally part of a reserved forest spanning Goa and Maharashtra, sections of Dandeli were incorporated into this reserve in 1987, leading to the establishment of the new Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for nature and animal enthusiasts, wildlife photographers, bird watchers, and adventure seekers, boasting a rich diversity of rare flora and fauna. It is renowned for hosting over 300 species of birds, making it a paradise for bird watchers and ornithologists, with the hornbill being the most prominent. Additionally, the sanctuary is home to a variety of animals including tigers, bison, leopards, elephants, black panthers, barking deer, flying squirrels, foxes, and Malabar giant squirrels.

One of the sanctuary’s highlights is the opportunity to observe these animals and birds in their natural habitat, free from cages or boundaries, which is a rare and remarkable experience in today’s world. Safaris begin early in the morning at 6:00 AM or in the evening at 4:00 PM, covering a 14-kilometer stretch in about two hours. The safari takes place in an open jeep, and local guides provide detailed information about the animals and plants in the forest.

The sanctuary’s stunning landscape features steep turns and slopes, lush green trees, and the deep blue waters of the river, creating a picturesque setting. This journey through the sanctuary will fill you with wonder and amazement, leaving you in awe of mother nature’s beauty and magnificence.
